Vita Zilinskiene was born in Merkine, Lithuania, on New Year’s Day, 1993, into a family of six children. Her father worked as a firefighter, and her mother as a weaver. In 2012, she completed her studies at Vincas Krėvė Gymnasium and graduated from Jadvyga Čiurlionytė Art School, specializing in Fine Art and Fortepiano.
After school, Vita took time away from formal education, traveling and working in the UK and Crete while continuing her creative self-discovery. During this period, she reignited her passion for painting, experimenting with acrylics, and pursued her love of music through songwriting and performance. In 2018, she graduated with First-Class Honours in BA (Hons) Popular Music Performance from Solent University, Southampton.
Though she achieved early success as a singer-songwriter, Vita later shifted her focus to working with people with disabilities and dementia. During this time, she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, an autoimmune condition that led to a thyroidectomy in 2021. Recovery brought lasting health challenges, yet also a profound rediscovery of her true calling—painting.
In 2022, Vita enrolled in an MA in Visual Communication at Solent University, where she explored visual languages in illustration and animation. She graduated with Distinction, affirming her commitment to the visual and auditory arts as powerful tools for storytelling.
Today, Vita continues to channel her experiences of resilience, transformation, and self-discovery into her creative practice. Her work explores the intersections of music, painting, and narrative, offering a deeply personal yet universal reflection on what it means to make—and to be—an artist.
Her work blends expressive realism with a contemporary painterly approach, bridging detailed observation with loose, emotive brushwork. She places a strong emphasis on authentic mark-making and the physicality of paint — brushstrokes, textures, and layered surfaces are all integral to her compositions.
